The Westlake Village Taco Bell Has Closed Its Doors After 26 Years in Business

Taco Bell WLV 1.jpg

Carol A. pointed out that the Taco Bell at 2900 Townsgate Road, Westlake Village in the Village Glen is closed. She’s absolutely right. After 26 years serving tacos, Quesaritos and Crunchwrap Supremes to the local community, it has packed its bags.

Other nearby Taco Bell locations in Thousand Oaks (corner of T.O. Boulevard and Rancho Road) and at 5589 Kanan Road in Agoura Hills as well as 791 N. Wendy Drive in Newbury Park.

Taco Bell was founded in 1962 by Glen Bell in Downey, California. Its first franchise opened in 1964 in Torrance. By 1967 it grew to 100 locations and in 1970 it went public with 325 restaurants. It was purchased by PepsiCo in 1978 and now is part of Yum! Brands.

Make you kind of wonder, if Glen’s last name was Keihanaikukauakahihuliheekahaunaele, would he have called it Taco Keihanaikukauakahihuliheekahaunaele? Hmm.

PizzaRev Locations in Thousand Oaks and Camarillo are Permanently Closed

PizzaRev1.jpg

PizzaRev closed its locations at The Oaks mall in Thousand Oaks and at the Camarillo Premium Outlets in May. They originally opened in summer 2016 and November 2014, respectively. Previously, PizzaRev operated a location in Oxnard from August 2013 to December 2016.

If you’re still craving a PizzaRev pizza, you’ll have to drive to a location outside of Ventura County, the closest of which is currently 48 miles away, in Palmdale.

Edelweiss German Bierhaus in Newbury Park Has Closed Its Doors

Edelweiss German Bierhaus (previously Julie's Alps and originally Jeanette's Edelweiss…and before that remember Brats Brothers and of course Lamppost Pizza) has closed its doors and sold its contents this past weekend. Jeanette's Edelweiss originally opened on March 27, 2015.

Sorry to see them go; we shall see what is next in this spot.

Sabor Cocina Mexicana at The Lakes at Thousand Oaks Is No Longer There

Sabor on Saturday, March 28th. Signs no longer there.

Sabor on Saturday, March 28th. Signs no longer there.

Sabor Cocina Mexicana at The Lakes at Thousand Oaks is no longer there. That leaves five businesses at The Lakes: Lassen's, P. F. Chang"s, CPK, Sunlife Organics and Kalologie Skincare.

A few folks on the CVG Facebook Page have asked if this is temporary (due to the COVID-19 crisis) or permanent. What leads me to believe this is a permanent closure:

  • The signs are completely gone from the front of the restaurant.

  • Sabor is no longer listed as a business on The Lakes’ website shoplakes.com.

  • Only one Sabor location is listed on the Sabor website and it ain’t Thousand Oaks (they operate at the Bridgeport Marketplace in Valencia). www.saborcocinamexicana.com

  • Their phone number is not functional.

Sabor about a week ago. Closed, but signs still up.

Freddy's Frozen Custard and Steakburgers in Westlake Village Has Closed Its Doors

freddys2.jpg

Freddy's Frozen Custard and Steakburgers in Westlake Village has closed its doors. They opened on Hampshire Road next to the old vacant Kmart building in the fall of 2013. Prior to that it was a Burger King. Sorry to see them go. They had a pretty nice run at a location that would not rank as one of the better locations in the Conejo Valley.
