2022 Santa Paula Rotary Pumpkin Patch at Limoneira Ranch (2023 Event Has Been Cancelled)

THE 2023 PUMPKIN PATCH AT LIMONEIRA RANCH HAS BEEN CANCELLED. Updates at www.sppumpkinpatch.com.

The Santa Paula Rotary Pumpkin Patch at the Limoneira Ranch, 12471 Foothill Road, Santa Paula will be back every Saturday and Sunday this October 2022.

Admission to the pumpkin patch is $12 (2 and under free) and includes hay ride, hay maze, hay pyramid, live music and plenty of great photo opps. Additional activities are $5 and up. The Corn MAiZE is $12. Other activities include corn maize, pony rides, face painting, the "Pumpkin Chucker" and more. No reservations needed - you can buy tickets online or at the door.

Families can easily spend a full day at the patch enjoying music, delicious fall food favorites, and old-fashioned hay wagon rides through acres of pumpkins, squash and gourds. 

Hours are 10am to 5 pm on October 1-2, 8-9, 15-16, 22-23 and 39-30.

2023 Ventura Harbor Village Outdoor Movie Nights in June, July and August

Mark your calendars for free Outdoor Movie Nights at Ventura Harbor Village on June 24th (Jaws), July 29th (Goonies) and August 26th (Moana). Movies start at sunset on the main lawn at Ventura Harbor Village, 1591 Spinnaker Drive in Ventura.

Arrive early for dessert and pre-show entertainment and to secure a spot on the grass.

Jaws costume contest on June 24th - dress as a shark or in 1970s era attire. Special guest Susan Jane Backlinie (aka Chrissie Watkins), the first shark victim from the original Jaws will be on hand to introduce the movie and answer audience questions.

Star Gazing Event at Moorpark College Observatory on Saturday, June 10th

Summer Triangle and Milky Way Sky Tour

Moorpark College and the Ventura County Astronomical Society will host a guided tour of the summer sky at the Moorpark College Observatory, 7075 Campus Road, on Saturday, June 10, 2023 at 8:00 pm. Join them for an exploration of our own galaxy, the Milky Way!

At 9 pm, the sky darkens, and the telescope viewing begins!

You are encouraged to bring your own binoculars or telescope. If the sky is cloudy, a PowerPoint presentation will still be shown.

STAR, PLANET & CONSTELLATIONS SKY TOUR

This is a free event to students, staff and the community, recommended for 6 years old or older. We will have a guided tour of the summer sky at the observatory amphitheater at 8:30 PM! Become familiar with the galaxies, star clusters and nebulae in the May sky. At 9 PM, the sky darkens and the telescope viewing begins! If you have binoculars, that will enhance your views too. Weather conditions (thick clouds, rain, high wind) can cancel the program.

Public Tours at the Camarillo Bird Museum

The Western Foundation of Vertebrate Zoology (WFVZ) (aka Camarillo Bird Museum), a 501(c)(3) non-profit charitable corporation, is both a natural history collection specializing in eggs and nests of birds from around the world, and a research and education institution dedicated to bird conservation. The Foundation's collections are the largest in the world, and its mission is to contribute to the conservation of the world’s wild bird species through the accessibility of the collections and their data to researchers, educators, students, and the public. 

The Museum both guided and unguided tours on Wednesdays and Fridays at noon and 2pm. A two hour guided tour for two is a $20 donation. A self-guided one hour tour is $7.

Living History Day at Community Center Park in Camarillo on Saturday, April 29th

The Pleasant Valley Historical Society and Museum will host Living History Day on Saturday April 29 from noon to 4:00 pm at Community Center Park on the corner of Carmen and Burnley Streets in Camarillo. Safe Boating Open House at Channel Islands Harbor on Saturday, May 20, 2023

In conjunction with National Safe Boating Week, the U.S. Coast Guard Station Channel Islands will host its Annual Safe Boating Open House on from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday May 20, 2023 at the Coast Guard Station, located at 4201 S. Victoria Ave. in Oxnard. Admission and parking are free.

USCG Boat Tours & Helicopter Rescue

Multiple public safety agencies will be present to demonstrate and provide an opportunity for the public to learn about recreational safe boating. Active duty members of the Coast Guard will conduct informative tours of their rescue boats and the USCG Cutter “Blacktip.”

Highlights include USCG Helicopter rescue demonstration over Channel Islands Harbor. Boaters may receive free life jacket exchange, drop-off expired flare disposal collected by the Ventura County Sheriff Office – Bomb Squad, Touch a Truck with Ventura County Fire Department, and much more.

Families and Children are welcome. Kids will delight with the antics of the talking Coastie Safety Boat robot! There are several information booths with safety brochures, boating safety class registration, vessel safety check RSVP, and all things to help adults and children learn about safe boating.

The U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary and the members of the active duty Coasties will be on hand to answer your questions and make your visit to the station enjoyable.
