24th Annual Pooch Parade Dog Walk and Pet Expo in Ventura on Sunday, August 18, 2024

Canine Adoption and Rescue League (C.A.R.L.) will host its 24th Annual Pooch Parade on Sunday, August 18, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Join C.A.R.L. and its adoptable rescue dogs for a day of fun in the sun at Ventura Harbor Village, 1583 Spinnaker Drive in Ventura. This year’s theme is “Fun, Sun, Sand, and Supporting Rescue Dogs!” And if you’re inclined, dress yourself and your pup up in the most fun beach inspired wear you can find! 

Nearly 20 vendors from Ventura, Santa Barbara, and Los Angeles Counties will host booths at the Parade. A sampling includes Sailor & Friends Pet Supply, Search Dog Foundation, Dogtown VTA, Damsel in Defense, All for Love Animal Rescue, and California State University Channel Islands. Dog agility demonstrations and C.A.R.L.dog adoptions will also be on-site.

Admission is free. The cost to participate in the Parade, which starts at 11 a.m., is $45. Participants can register on the event day at the registration booth. Parade teams must consist of at least four adult participants. Individuals and teams who raise the highest amounts will receive a special prize. Parade participants will receive a complimentary event T-shirt featuring this year’s Pooch Parade logo on the front and sponsors’ names on the back. Proceeds from the Parade will support the feeding and medical care of adoptable dogs at the C.A.R.L. Pet Care Center and the paid staff who care for them in Santa Paula.

2024 Sun Sets Summer Concert Series on Sunday Nights at Calabasas Lake - June to August

Spend your summer Sundays with great live music at the 2024 Summer Sun Sets Concert Series at Calabasas Lake

The traditionally private Calabasas Lake opens its doors to concert goers, providing a scenic backdrop and ample field seating for picnickers. The public is encouraged to bring lawn chairs, blankets, and sweaters. Some fixed seating is available on a first come first served basis. All performances are free to the public.

27th Annual Fall Harvest Festival at Underwood Family Farms September 28 to October 31, 2024

The 27th Annual Fall Harvest Festival returns at Underwood Family Farms, 3370 Sunset Valley Road in Moorpark, starting Saturday, September 28 to Thursday, October 31, 2024. The farm will transform into a giant Pumpkin Patch, Pick Your Own & Fall Harvest experience filled with games, rides, photo opps, live entertainment, themed weekends, bands and more. Festival hours are 9am to 6pm.

Admission: Weekday admission is $14.00 and sold at the gate only.

Weekend admission tickets are sold online only. (Walk-ins subject to availability.) Pricing for themed weekends as follows:

Ventura County Coastal Cleanup Day on Saturday, September 21, 2024

The 40th Annual California Coastal Cleanup Day is set for Saturday, September 21, 2024 from 9am-noon, at beaches and waterways throughout California. Get involved locally with @vccoastcleanupday to remove trash and plastic pollution that has been accumulating in our County since the last Coastal Cleanup Day.

Can’t make it on the 21st? Ventura County Coastal Cleanup is also encouraging community members to participate throughout the month of September by cleaning up their neighborhoods, parks, and other local areas and recording progress in the Clean Swell Data Collection App.

Relay for Life of Conejo Valley Planned for Saturday, October 5, 2024

The American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Conejo Valley event is a life-changing experience that gives everyone in their community a chance to celebrate the lives of people who have battled cancer, Remember loved ones lost, and Fight Back against the disease.  The 2024 event will take place on Saturday, October 5, 2024 from 7:30 am to 8 pm at California Lutheran University’s Memorial Field, 141 Memorial Pkwy, Thousand Oaks.

The goal of the event is to raise funds and awareness for cancer treatment and research

The 63rd Annual Youth Halloween Carnival, hosted by the Rancho Simi Recreation and Park District, will take place on Thursday, October 31, 2024 from 4-7PM at Rancho Santa Susana Community Center, 5005-C Los Angeles Avenue, Simi Valley. Event to include inflatables, trick or treat village, balloons, face painting and carnival games. Admission $6 in advance for ages 3 to 12, $8 for ages 13-18. Free for 2 and under. 31st Annual California Lemon Festival in Goleta September 28-29, 2024

Be sure to stop by Girsh Park in Goleta on September 28-29, 2024 for the 31st Annual California Lemon Festival. Admission and parking are free. Open 10am to 6pm on Saturday and 10am to 5pm on Sunday.

Festival will include 80+ booths, lemony food and drinks, live entertainment, kid zone, classic car show on Saturday, Safety Street, pie eating contests, and more.
