HomeTown Buffet in Oxnard Recently Closed Its Doors

Truth be told I had not been at the HomeTown Buffet at 1906 Lockwood Street in Oxnard, near Best Buy and CarMax, for over 10 years.

Buffets seem to be a dying breed around town. I used to enjoy taking the kids from time to time as they enjoyed the variety...and the plentiful assortment of…desserts.

But as the kids have grown older through the years, I'm impressed by their desire to eat healthful foods...fruits and vegetables, and less desserts! Amazing how times have changed!

In any case, I was not aware of the recent closing and was not tipped off about it like I frequently am via the Conejo Valley Guide Facebook Page. But I did find out via Facebook as on my "wall" popped up an ad for a "Former HomeTown Buffet Restaurant Liquidation Auction."

A quick visit to the HomeTown Buffet website turned up no evidence of an Oxnard location. There thus are no more HomeTown Buffets in Ventura County.

The closest Hometown Buffet to Thousand Oaks has been and continues to be the Canoga Park location, which at 16 miles from Thousand Oaks is 4 miles closer than the Oxnard location was.

Teko's Brazilian Grill in Westlake Village Has Closed Its Doors

Teko.jpg

Hmm, this didn't last long. We did try Teko's Brazilian Grill in Westlake Village several times. The food was sold by the pound and included a Churrasco BBQ. It was actually pretty tasty, though the pricing by the lb option limited my time there. It originally opened in January 2017 and closed in the latter part of 2017.

Cut 360 Steakhouse in Westlake Village Has Closed Its Doors

Cut 360 Steakhouse and Churrascaria in Westlake Village closed its doors at the end of December. It had operated just shy of 2 years, having opened in March 2016. Before Cut 360 this was the home of The Napa Tavern. What's next? We shall see.

Enjoying their meal at Cut 360, then hearing the news it was closing.

Jennifer Winters Weak pointed out that Super Tommy's at 3085 E. T.O. Blvd in Thousand Oaks is closed (it actually closed about a month ago). This eatery, tucked in behind Val Surf off across from where Hampshire Road intersects T.O. Boulevard, has operated since 1996.

In an informal survey on the Conejo Valley Guide Facebook Page, we polled viewers about their experience at Super Tommy's. 86% of respondents had indeed heard of Super Tommy's, while 14% had not. Super Tommy's will be missed for many things, but breakfast burritos were mentioned the most.

Julian's Restaurant & Bar in Camarillo Closed Its Doors in Late November

JuliansCam.JPG

Drove by Julian's Restaurant & Bar in Old Town Camarillo last night, a Saturday night, and there was no one there. Julian's announced on its Facebook page on November 28th that it had closed its doors.

Julian's opened in May of this year in the historic J.F. Lewis & Sons - 1916 building, which was previously occupied by JJ Brewsky's, The French Bulldog and the Old Town Tavern.

What's next for this historic location? Let's stay tuned.
