See www.crpd.org/programs-sports/adults-seniors and scroll down to Breakfast at the GACC for the menu.

On a side note, something I’ve found interesting in compiling this list is that most eateries offer omelettes, while a few offer omelets. According to Grammarly.com, omelet is the American English spelling whereas omelette is the British English spelling. Thus, I regret to inform you that most Conejo Valley breakfast eateries are not using proper American English. But I guess as long as the omelette is delicious, we’ll give them a pass.

A Compilation of Automotive Relics in the Open Space of the Conejo Valley

As a resident of the Conejo Valley for over 20 years, a long distance runner and a father with active kids, I've run, walked, hiked and rolled over thousands of miles of trails within and surrounding the Conejo Valley.

Over the years I've noticed interesting, old items on the sides of the trails. These relics from the past always make me wonder how they got there and why they remain. I've attempted here to document these automotive blasts to the past on the trails of the Conejo Valley.

Laser Tag Places In and Around Ventura County

In 1982, a man named George Carter III started designing an arena-based, scored version of a game involving guns that emit infrared beams to "hit" members of other teams. The first laser tag arena was opened by Carter in Dallas on March 28, 1984. Laser tag at one point here in Ventura County consisted of just one venue - Lazerstar in Camarillo, which closed in March 2012. But in recent years has been on an upswing.

What I like about laser tag is that it is fun for all ages, gets you on your feet and is strategic. And it doesn't hurt when you're shot!

Well, we’re down to one laser tag option in Ventura County as of February 2023:

LazerTag Axtreme in the Wood Ranch Shopping Center in Simi Valley opened in July 2013. The facility is over 5,000 sq ft, with a multi-level arena, arcade and more.

This is the old LazerTag Extreme (formerly Lazerstar) back in August 2009 in Camarillo. This space is now a Fitness 19 gym.

Annual Poppy Display in the North Ranch Open Space, Thousand Oaks, on March 16, 2019

Poppies NROS 3.16.19 2.JPG

Superbloom or no superbloom, this beautiful poppy patch off the Bowfield/Saddle Pass Trail in the North Ranch Open Space in Thousand Oaks has been blooming this time of year for years. The hills to get up here are not for everyone e.g. they are steep - but to me are worth it for this view orange beauty.

Meals on Wheels Westlake Village Serves Residents of Westlake Village, Agoura Hills and Oak Park

Founded in 1982, Westlake Village Meals on Wheels, Inc. is a non-profit community service providing weekday meals to the home-bound or temporarily/permanently incapacitated residents of Westlake Village, Agoura Hills and Oak Park.

“Meals-on-Wheels” is seeking volunteer drivers in Agoura Hills, Oak Park and Westlake Village, to ensure home bound seniors receive nutritious meals and a bit of companionship. Meals on Wheels also provide human contact, conversations, and a connection to the outside world that many of our aged neighbors would lack without our daily visits.  Eating the right foods can make all the difference in staying mentally sharp, emotionally balanced, full of energy, and keeping a positive mental attitude and a healthy immune system.

Meals on Wheels serves approximately 30 meals a day to seniors in our community. Our clients are our mothers, fathers, grandparents and neighbors. They need your help.

Drivers use their vehicles to deliver meals to home bound seniors from eleven to noon, Monday through Saturday. A delivery route consists of 5-10 meals per route.

Volunteer drivers/riders may commit to once a week on a regular basis or be called on a substitute basis. Groups may adopt a route and rotate drivers to suit there schedule. All’s you need is a valid driver's license, insurance and a vehicle.

For more information on how to become a volunteer, call Debbie at Meals on Wheels 1-805-370-4295 or visit www.mealsonwheels-wlv.org.
