The World's Biggest Bounce House Comes to Santa Barbara August 23-25

The Big Bounce America, featuring the world’s largest bounce house, will be featured at Ellings Park in Santa Barbara Friday through Sunday, the weekend of August 23-25, 2019.

There are three featured attractions:

  • The World’s Biggest Bounche House is the largest bounce house in the world, featuring ball pits, climbing towers, live DJs, confetti blasts and more.

  • The Giant is a 900+ foot tall inflatable obstacle course.

  • AirSPACE is a bouncy attraction with friendly aliens, spaceships, giant planets, moon craters and more.

Three hour access tickets are available for a timed session on The World’s Biggest Bounce House and unlimited access to the other attractions at thebigbounceamerica.com/family/tickets.

Options include a Toddler Session (ages 3 and under) for $16 (Friday only), Junior Session (ages 7 and under) for $25 (Sat/Sun only), Bigger Kid Session (ages 15 and under) for $25 (Fri-Sun) and Adults Only Session (ages 16+) for $30 (Sat/Sun only).

Must wear socks at all times.

Circus Trix to Open Trampoline and Aerial Action Facility at Janss Marketplace in 2017

In February, Janss Marketplace announced it signed a 10 year lease with trampoline center operator Circus Trix for 37,773 sq ft of space - the space next to Toy R Us - Padavo Home Furnishings. Circus Trix plans to open this year.

Circus Trix filed a Special Use Permit application with the City of Thousand Oaks that was presented at the April 10th Planning Commission Meeting. The Commission unanimously approved the project.

The facility will be called DojoBoom - The Ultimate Extreme Air Experience. www.dojoboom.com

Maximum capacity of the facility will be 200 patrons and 25 employees, with proposed operating hours of 9am to 9pm Sunday through Thursday and 9am to midnight on Friday/Saturday.

The facility will include 18,045 sq ft of trampoline area, 4,071 sq ft of foam play area, three party rooms totaling 1,271 sq ft, a viewing area and more. It is a corporate-owned facility and Circus Trix is the largest trampoline center operated in the country. Learn more at www.circustrix.com.

There are currently 26 other locations in the U.S., with 13 more slated in 2017 (including Thousand Oaks, Los Angeles and Orange County in Southern California). Each location has a different name, like Sector Extreme Air Sports in New Orleans, DefyGravity Trampoline Park in Charlotte and Skywalk in Fresno.

Update: Padavo will be moving to the Riverland location at Janss. Riverland will be closing its doors April 30th.

Dinosaurs Unextinct Exhibit at the Los Angeles Zoo April 15 to October 21, 2016

The Dinosaurs Unextinct exhibit will be on display at the Los Angeles Zoo from April 15 to October 21, 2016. Come face to face with 17 life-size, lifelike animatronic dinosaurs for fun, fossils digs and photo opps. Dinosaurs planning to make an appearance for this event include Suchomimus, Carnotaurus, Citipati, Diabloceratops, Dilophosaurus, Utahraptor, Pachyrhinosaurus, Triceratops, Tyrannosaurus Rex and more.

New Splash Pad and Picnic Shelters at Rancho Tapo Community Park

A new and improved splash pad was set to premier on Friday, May 22nd BUT HAS BEEN RESCHEDULED TO NEXT WEEK at Rancho Tapo Community Park in Simi Valley. The new splash pad is 55% larger, has a water treatment and recycling system and had three different play areas! Yay!

World Record LEGO Chain Event in Thousand Oaks on Saturday, September 27th

World Record LEGO Chain Event is taking place on Saturday, September 27th from 9 AM - 4 PM at Thousand Oaks City Hall.

We are attempting to break the Guinness Book of World Records by building the World Longest LEGO Chain. We need your help to do it.  We have over 100,000 LEGO bricks and need some families who love building with LEGOs to help us build it.

This charity event is a collaboration between the Conejo Recreation & Park District, Rotary International, and Play-Well TEKnologies to raise money to build a state of the art special needs playground at Old Meadows Park in Thousand Oaks.

New Wednesday Afternoon Farmers' Market to Premiere in Camarillo on May 21st

Pleasant Valley Recreation & Park District (PVRPD) in collaboration with the Ventura County Certified Farmers' Market Association are teaming up to host a Wednesday afternoon Farmers' Market premiering May 21st. This new farmers' market will be located at the Camarillo Community Center parking lot at 1605 E. Burnley Street. Hours will be 3pm until dusk.

Offerings from local vendors will include fresh produce, baked goods, honey, nuts and more, as well as other items such as art, jewelry, pottery and more. Other prepared food vendors will also be on hand.

Along with the certified farmers’ market and crafters’ corner, there will be special PVRPD events for the whole family, including movie nights, music, kids' games and more.

Open year-round, rain or shine. SNAP/Cal-Fresh/EBT customers welcome. Redemptions will be authorized at Market Information Booth. Pets not allowed per California state health laws (except service animals).

Ceramics Studio in Oxnard is New; Ceramics Studio in Camarillo is Adieu

Recently, Paintin' Place vacated its location at 330 N. Lantana in Camarillo in the Paseo Camarillo Shopping Center. Sorry to see them go. In the meantime, a new Color Me Mine Paint it Yourself Pottery location opened at The Collection at Riverpark in Oxnard last November. So net/net we are "even" in terms of paint-your-own-pottery places around town.

Grand Opening of Freedom Park Baseball Complex in Camarillo on February 2nd

The 34 acre Freedom Park is located adjacent to the Camarillo Airport. The new Freedom Park Baseball Complex features lighted baseball fields - 4 youth and 1 adult. Also at the park is the Freedom Park BMX Raceway, a dirt track open for BMX racing and practice. For those who like to race remote control cars there are dirt and asphalt tracks available at the Freedom Park R/C Track. The Freedom Park In-Line Hockey Rink is the place to be if roller hockey is your thing. Lastly, Freedom Park has picnic tables, BBQ grills, horseshoe pits, a playground, and restrooms.
