As you may have already heard, the long-anticipated Dave & Buster’s at 145 W. Hillcrest Drive, Thousand Oaks is set to open on Monday, March 4, 2019. Here are some details about the place:

  • This 32,000 square foot facility is the 15th location in California and 123rd location overall.

  • There is a sports bar with dozens of HDTVs with plenty of seating.

  • A huge portion of the space is dedicated towards arcade games. Additionally, guests can play the multiplayer virtual reality attraction featuring “Dragonfrost,” where guests will embark on the ultimate winter quest to save the kingdom, and Jurassic World VR Expedition, an interactive cinematic experience that transports players to the jungles of Isla Nubar on an epic rescue inspired by the Jurassic World film series.

  • Private event space available for any occasion, size and budget.

So when is Lowe’s Thousand Oaks opening? A Lowe’s Customer Care rep indicated late April 2019.

A little more about Lowe’s. Lowe’s ranked No. 40 on the Fortune 500 in 2017, with $68.6 billion in sales and $3.4 billion in earnings. Lowe’s employs over 310,000 employees in over 2,370 home improvement and hardware stores in North America. The original founder of Lowe’s was Lucius Smith Lowe, who opened Lowe’s North Wilkesboro Hardware in North Carolina in 1921.

Carl Buchan took ownership of the company through the 1940s and 1950s, expanding it to over 20 locations. He died of a heart attack at age 44 in 1961, but his executive team took the company public that same year.

Last year, Lowe’s closed its Orchard Supply Hardware chain, including the local OSH store in Thousand Oaks , which employed 57 staff.

On October 31, 2018, announced it was closing 20 under-performing stores in the U.S. and 31 in Canada. On November 20, 2018, Lowe’s announced plans to exit retail operations in Mexico, which includes 10 stores in total.

Continued Progress at the Lowe's / LA Fitness in Newbury Park (UPDATE: July 3 to 8, 2019)

UPDATE: I’ve heard that LA Fitness Newbury Park will open sometime between July 3 and July 8, 2019.

Grading started over a year ago at the Lowe’s / LA Fitness at the northwest corner of Grande Vista Drive and Academy Drive in Newbury Park. Construction seems to be progressing nicely at this point, as evidenced by the photos below over the past week.

LA Fitness is now taking pre-opening memberships out of the former GNC at 1025 Broadbeck Drive (in The Village at Newbury Park), next to Subway. The 37,000 square foot facility, anticipated to open in the Spring 2019 time frame, is considered a Signature Club that among other things will feature an indoor swimming pool, basketball court, hot yoga and much more. The Pallet Westlake Village Do It Yourself Shop Opened in Sept; Grand Opening Event Oct 14th

The Pallet Westlake Village is a one stop do-it-yourself shop that makes succulent arrangements and hosts workshops and private crafting parties. Signs are up and construction is moving along for a new Whole Foods Market coming to the Civic Center area of Malibu (Civic Center Way at Cross Creek Road). Anticipated opening date is Spring 2019.

The Whole Foods and the Park projects totals nearly 6 acres and consists of a 38,425 sq ft shopping center, including a 24,549 sq ft Whole Foods Market and four smaller commercial retail buildings totaling 13,876 sq ft.
