Alison F. tipped us off on this on June 3rd via the CVG Facebook Page but I wanted to see it myself to believe it that Galletto Bar & Grill, a Westlake Village mainstay for 20 years in the Westlake Plaza at 982 Westlake Boulevard, is closing its doors soon (specific date TBA). The note on the front window points out the owners' other location is Farfalla at The Promenade at Westlake.

That said, a new place is already lined up for this location. Finney's Crafthouse & Kitchen is opening this fall. Their Instagram page indicates they will have 30 craft beers on tap, craft cocktails, gourmet burgers, flatbread pizzas, specialty salads and delicious appetizers.

Visit their site at www.finneyscrafthouse.com for updates. Based on the countdown clock on their site, it appears they plan to open in mid-August. But we shall see.

Fusion Grill to Open This Fall at the Oakbrook Plaza in Thousand Oaks

Update 11/18/16: Fusion Grill is now open at its new location in Thousand Oaks.

About a month ago I spoke with the owner of Fusion Grill in Newbury Park about the status of it opening a Thousand Oaks location at the Oakbrook Plaza (Avenida de los Arboles and Erbes Road) in the space previously occupied by Chang 101 (and prior to that, Chen's Szechwan Restaurant, which closed in September 2008 for you local history buffs).

The response was that they would actually be relocating from Newbury Park to this larger location in Thousand Oaks and that it would be happening in the Fall 2016 time frame; possibly as early as late October.

Fusion Grill serves "contemporary, eclectic Italian, French and Asian cuisine and has rave reviews in Yelp.

And there you have it.  Learn more at www.fusiongrill1.com.

Cagami Ramen Opened in Late July in Former Home of Sushi Hamayu in Camarillo

The owners of Sushi Hamayu in Camarillo retired in June and in late July, a new eatery opened in its place at 1855 E. Daily Drive, Suite B (sandwiched, so to speak, between Habit Burger and Urbane Cafe), Camarillo, Cagami Ramen

It sounds absolutely delicious, so I do plan to stop by soon. Their menu, seen on their Facebook page at www.facebook.com/cagamiramen, includes all sorts of great stuff: ramen noodles and soup, rice bowls with tuna, salmon, yellowtail, etc. and fish dishes. Oooh, and mochi ice cream for dessert. I WILL be checking this place out. Soon.

Museum of Ventura County to Close Galleries Temporarily through December 2016

The Museum of Ventura County, which houses the region’s oldest and most comprehensive collection of documents, maps, and historical artifacts, will briefly close its downtown Ventura galleries (at 100 E. Main St.) in order to design and install a new exhibition on Ventura County history. Its Research Library will remain open during this period, as will the Agriculture Museum in Santa Paula. Some of the museum’s special programs, such as Free First Sundays for Families and popular community events, including the traditional Dia de los Muertos celebration in November, will still be held at the museum during this time. The Museum galleries will re-open and public programming will resume in early January.

In addition to newly remodeled exhibition space depicting the history of Ventura County, more of the museum’s exceptional art collection will be displayed throughout the facility. New educational exhibits will be installed at the Agriculture Museum in Santa Paula as well.

This decision stems from the board’s desire to highlight the quality and depth of the museum’s collection on an ongoing basis, and to reach out and engage with Ventura County residents about the museum’s mission and purpose.
