El Torito Simi Valley Has Closed Its Doors

The last of the Ventura County based El Torito locations has closed its doors. The Simi Valley location at 2498 Erringer Road closed this week. El Torito fans in Ventura County will now have to drive to Woodland Hills or Northridge.

Previous Ventura County El Torito locations that closed include the Oxnard location in December 2015 and the Thousand Oaks location in January 2012.

Pieology Locations in Thousand Oaks, Westlake Village and Woodland Hills Have Closed

Mary M and several others gave us the heads up that Pieology locations in Thousand Oaks and Westlake Village, not to mention Woodland Hills, have closed. No word on what is coming next to these locations at this point.

Pieology Thousand Oaks originally opened in August 2013, so it had a five year run here in the Conejo Valley. As I recall, this was this first of many new "make your own" quick serve pizza places that have popped up in the Conejo Valley over the last five years, including PizzaRev, Mod Pizza, Pitfire Pizzeria, Blaze Pizza and others. Previously at this location at 593 N. Moorpark Road were Fit2BeThai and Olga's Kitchen (I happened to love that place!).

The Westlake Village Pieology opened its doors in February 2015.

Something else apparently is coming in, however! (Sign at Thousand Oaks location.)

Vintage & Unique Store on Thousand Oaks Boulevard

I stumbled across the Vintage & Unique store at 783 East Thousand Oaks Boulevard (at Houston Drive) yesterday as I was killing time waiting for new tires to be placed on my card down the street (thanks America's Tire for your prompt service).

Vintage & Unique opened this past March with an array of truly vintage, unique, recycled and repurposed items. We don't have a lot of stores like this in the Conejo Valley and it's lots of fun to see them thrive in this era of chain stores.

In addition to an eclectic of interesting and unique items available Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., the store hosts period vintage market pop up events where other vendors display their wares.

Learn more on their Facebook page at www.facebook.com/Vintage-Unique-346321222811 or visit them on Instagram at vintagenunique. They can also be reached at 805-852-8309.
