Ventura County Coastal Cleanup Day on Saturday, September 21, 2024

The 40th Annual California Coastal Cleanup Day is set for Saturday, September 21, 2024 from 9am-noon, at beaches and waterways throughout California. Get involved locally with @vccoastcleanupday to remove trash and plastic pollution that has been accumulating in our County since the last Coastal Cleanup Day.

Can’t make it on the 21st? Ventura County Coastal Cleanup is also encouraging community members to participate throughout the month of September by cleaning up their neighborhoods, parks, and other local areas and recording progress in the Clean Swell Data Collection App.

"Junk in the Trunk" Community Swap Meet in Simi Valley on September 28 and October 19, 2024

Rancho Simi Recreation & Park District presents its Junk in the Trunk swap meet at the Rancho Santa Susana Community Center Parking Lot from 8am to 12pm on Saturday, September 28, 2024 and Saturday, October 19, 2024.

Relay for Life of Conejo Valley Planned for Saturday, October 5, 2024

The American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Conejo Valley event is a life-changing experience that gives everyone in their community a chance to celebrate the lives of people who have battled cancer, Remember loved ones lost, and Fight Back against the disease.  The 2024 event will take place on Saturday, October 5, 2024 from 7:30 am to 8 pm at California Lutheran University’s Memorial Field, 141 Memorial Pkwy, Thousand Oaks.

The goal of the event is to raise funds and awareness for cancer treatment and research

63rd Annual Youth Halloween Carnival in Simi Valley on Thursday, October 31, 2024

The 63rd Annual Youth Halloween Carnival, hosted by the Rancho Simi Recreation and Park District, will take place on Thursday, October 31, 2024 from 4-7PM at Rancho Santa Susana Community Center, 5005-C Los Angeles Avenue, Simi Valley. Event to include inflatables, trick or treat village, balloons, face painting and carnival games. Admission $6 in advance for ages 3 to 12, $8 for ages 13-18. Free for 2 and under. Limited tickets at the door for $10. Activities geared towards kids ages 2 to 12.

31st Annual California Lemon Festival in Goleta September 28-29, 2024

Be sure to stop by Girsh Park in Goleta on September 28-29, 2024 for the 31st Annual California Lemon Festival. Admission and parking are free. Open 10am to 6pm on Saturday and 10am to 5pm on Sunday.

Festival will include 80+ booths, lemony food and drinks, live entertainment, kid zone, classic car show on Saturday, Safety Street, pie eating contests, and more.

43rd Annual Wings Over Camarillo Airshow on August 17-18, 2024

The Camarillo Wings Association will host the 2024 Wings Over Camarillo Air Show with support from volunteers from the Southern California Wing of the Commemorative Air Force, EAA Chapter 723 and the Ventura County 99s.

The event will take place August 17 and 18, 2024 at the Camarillo Airport. Gates open at 9am and close at 8pm Saturday and 6pm Sunday. Aerial performances run from noon to approximately 4pm.

The air show includes aerobatic performances from classic warbirds from the CAF, military aircraft, experimental aircraft, and more. On the ground will be a classic car show, aircraft display models, food vendors, craft beer, STEM Pavilion, robotics exhibition, and more.

This 43rd-anniversary event will feature a unique tribute to our military veterans that includes a recreation of wartime air combat with stunning pyrotechnics of fire and controlled explosions.  Military aircraft, past and present, will be on display for an up-close and personal one-of-a-kind experience.  This year, visitors can enjoy a Flight Line Preview from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., and the pilots and crew will be on hand to answer any questions and talk about the unique history of the aircraft.

General admission purchased in advance is $30 per day for adults, $20 for active military with ID and $10 for youth 6 to 16 (plus service fees). Under 6 free. Buy tickets in advance to save. Credit cards only accepted at the gate.

2025 Mountains 2 Beach Marathon, Half Marathon, 10K in Ventura on Sunday, April 13th and 5K on April 12th

The Mountains 2 Beach Marathon on Sunday, April 13, 2025 starts in beautiful Ojai at just over 700 ft. and gradually descends to sea-level over 18 miles, finishing near the historic Ventura Pier.

The Mountains 2 Beach Half-Marathon is a fast, beautiful, point to point 13.1 mile course that stars in the town of Oak View down the bike path to Ventura. Also on Sunday is a 10K run.

New in 2025: On Saturday, April 12th, the beachside M2B 5K will take place at San Buenaventura State Beach Park. A Kids 1K will take place at 1pm.

Ride to the Flags Memorial Charity Motorcycle Ride on Sunday, September 8, 2024

Ride to the Flags began in 2008, accompanying the Wave of Flags 9/11 Memorial at Pepperdine University. Although not officially associated with the collegiate memorial - the ride does end at the memorial for a short service. Ride to the Flags is an all volunteer, charity ride that in the past has donated hundreds of thousands of dollars for wounded warriors in need. In 2023 and beyond, the ride supports veteran mental health through the White Heart Foundation’s Guardian Project.

This year's ride will take place on Sunday, September 8, 2024.

Check-in from 7:30am to 9:30am at Naval Base Ventura County, followed by a ceremony at 10am. The ride starts at 11am down PCH, ending at Malibu Bluffs Park for a rally.
