Darryl's Couch Craft Beer Pub Opened in Camarillo in Late 2012

Darryl's Couch Craft Beer Pub opened in the latter part of 2012. It is located at the bottom of the Conejo Grade off the the Camarillo Springs exit at 795 Camarillo Springs Road, Suite E, Camarillo. This is a craft beer lover's dream watering hole, featuring 11 rotating draft beers and another 30 or so bottled selections. While they don't serve food at the bar, you are welcome to bring your own or stop by the Village Greens Market next door.

California Kettle Corn Retail Store Recently Opened in Newbury Park

California Kettle Corn recently opened what I believe is the only kettle corn retail shop in the area. Located at the Wendy/Kimber Plaza at 3321 Kimber Drive in Newbury Park (directly adjacent to the tantalizing N' Awlinz Bistro). I stopped by on a recent visit to Tony's Pizza and purchased several of the ten or so different flavors for my family's crunching pleasure. Needless to say, I didn't get to try any because my wife and kids devoured it.

Kettle corn flavors currently offered by California Kettle Corn includes bacon and cheddar, cheddar, chocolate, caramel, chocolate/caramel, hot jalapeno, grape, blue rasberry, pink strawberry and sweet corn. In addition, they serve specialty lemonades and shaved ice.

A 99 Cents Only Store Appears to Be Coming to Old Roller Dome Thousand Oaks Spot

UPDATE: The 99 Cents Store chain closed all stores, including this one, in the spring of 2024.

Over two years ago, the Roller Dome indoor roller skating facility at North Oaks Plaza, 950 Avenida de los Arboles in Thousand Oaks closed its doors. Recently a CVG Facebook follower alerted us to what appears to be a future new tenant at this location, a 99 Cents Only Store. There are other 99 Cents Only stores in Camarillo, Simi Valley (2), Oxnard, Port Hueneme and Ventura (2). Stay tuned.

Evolution of the Former El Torito in Thousand Oaks Through the Holiday Season

The former Thousand Oaks El Torito on 449 N. Moorpark Road closed on January 24, 2012. Chick-fil-A is said to be considering the location for a sit down restaurant. In October it became "The Best Halloween Store Ever!" And now, beginning November 29th, the Christmas Store, specializing in Christmas decor. fresh wreaths, decorated trees, custom centerpieces, garlands and potted poinsettia, will open for the upcoming holiday season. 16-Screen Century Theatres to Open at The Collection at RiverPark in Oxnard on Oct 26

In case you hadn't already noticed, there's a big new shopping center being built on the northeast side of the 101 freeway in Oxnard, between the Oxnard and Vineyard exits, called The Collection at RiverPark.

If you're a Target fan, the center already features a 150,000 sq ft state-of-the-art Target store that opened over a year ago in July 2011. I've been there with the kids and I can honestly say this is the nicest, coolest looking Target store I've ever been to. There's also covered parking, which kind of nice.

Shea Properties continues construction of The Collection at RiverPark and has announced a number of great new additions to our local shopping and dining scene!  Here's what is coming:

Century Theatres will be opening a brand new 16 screen location on Friday, October 26th (just in time for Halloween)! Two of the screens will use their new XD (Extreme Digital) technology that features a larger screen, up to 38' × 70' and improvements in audio and digital projection.

In November 2012, they plan to open Kabuki Japanese Restaurant, Panera Bread, Menchie's Frozen Yogurt, Five Guys Burgers and Fries, Color Me Mine (do it yourself pottery painting studio) and Massage Envy Spa.

In the spring of 2013 they anticipate the opening of REI Store, (outdoor gear and clothing), a Whole Foods Market and a Starbucks.

Cinépolis Luxury Cinemas in Westlake Village to Debut on Friday, September 21st

Cinépolis Luxury Cinemas To Debut Its First Greater Los Angeles Location at The Promenade At Westlake

Cinépolis Luxury Cinemas, the largest cinema exhibitor in Latin America and fourth largest in the world, will open its fourth luxury U.S. location at The Promenade at Westlake, a Caruso Affiliated Property. Bringing its completely revolutionized concept in movie theaters to Westlake Village, Cinépolis enhances the traditional movie-going experience by pampering customers in an intimate and comfortable environment.

The theater will open on Friday, September 21st for movie showings.

With successful U.S. locations in Del Mar, La Costa and Laguna Niguel, Cinépolis is the go-to theater for a first-class movie-going experience. The Cinema, at The Promenade At Westlake, includes eight state-of-the-art, digital auditoriums, leather reclining chairs, swivel tables and call service buttons that summon cinema servers to take moviegoers’ food and beverage orders during a film.  Ticket prices range from $13.50 -$19.50—with a surcharge for 3D films.

Guests are invited to socialize with friends in the lounge-style lobby or outdoor patio dining area beforehand, complete with full dining and bar service. The menu offers restaurant-quality favorites such as a chopped short rib burger, Cobb salad, spicy buffalo chicken wrap and sushi. Guests can also enjoy traditional movie snacks such as popcorn (available in Butter, Light, Caramel and Spicy Chili), soft drinks, specialty coffee drinks, milkshakes, gourmet finger foods and desserts such as Chocolate Godiva Cheesecake.
